Thoughts on why Boston Marathon has had more media?
ReplyDeleteI think (personally) that there is more media because Boston getting bombed is very rare .But 15 people died I think there should be some more stories about this

ReplyDeleteI personally think that rarity of the Boston Bombing was the cause that the media focused on this event when, as we discussed in class with Miss Conlon, other more tragic events happened around the world at the same time and received less media focus.
Cynically, the media's main focus is often driven by money (sell the most papers, get the best ratings on the TV to earn more revenue from advertising). This event was one that could easily be sensationalised into a top selling news story. Of course the people in Boston need our prayers and thoughts, as do the people in Waco and many other parts of the world, but it has been an interesting topic to explore from a perspective that analyses the media.
