Bangladesh Building Collapse

Bangladesh Building Collapse

A building with housing factories that made low priced garments collapsed on the border of Dhaka, in Bangladesh.


More than 300 people have been confirmed dead, with many more missing.

The day before the collapse, the police had ordered the building to be closed and evacuated.
But the factories ignored the order, and forced over 3000 people to work, many young woman.

The building was 8 stories high. It was built illegally without the right building permits.

Around 2350 people have been rescued, the majority of them injured.

This links in with our 'Humanity' topic. As these people have different 'human rights'.

Do you think it is fair that these people were forced to work under such terrible conditions?

Then to have the building collapse on top of them?

Anzac day.

Today was Anzac Day.
Me and Caitlin went to the dawn service, then took some pictures.

It was at the Memorial Park, at Sladden Park.

Fertilizer Plant Explosion.

Near Waco, Texas there was an explosion in a Fertilizer Plant. I didn't upload the video to my blog because it has bad language...But heres a link: Fertilizer Plant Explosion. Around 15 people died, and many more are badly injured.. Keep them in your prayers.

My letter about Child Labour

Art

Yesterday for art, we sat in a circle. In the middle was a bowl with a banana, a kiwifruit and a pear. We drew the bowl and fruit from our angle, then moved round 3 spaces and edited someone else's work from their angle.

It was fun to see what the other people had done it  to your work and if it looked better or worse..

Only two more days until holidays :D Yay!

Boston Marathon Bombing

 3 people have been confirmed dead at the Boston marathon bombing. Over 130 are injured. Two bombs went off 45-90 metres apart. Keep these people in your hearts as they try to recover from loss of loved ones or injuries.

Cross Country

Today we had cross country. It wad really hard and I was very tired at the end. I was really proud of where I came, and everyone showed we won the chant competition. Well done everyone! :D Some quotes about running :) --------->

Humanity

Welcome back to my blog :D
Today, we did some research for our new topic 'Humanity'.
In our class, you can pick to focus on child labour, a specific country, or a organisation that are helping people around the world, who are suffering with poverty etc.

I am focusing on child labour and 'Sweatshops'. Sweatshops are dangerous working environments for workers who work long hours for a very low wage. Some of these people survive on less than $1 a day.
